The world premiere of Iron Man 2 will no longer take place at the Vue Westfield, due to the air traffic disruption between the U.K and the U.S.

The red carpet event was due to have taken place next Monday (April 26th) in what would have been the first premiere at the Shepherd's Bush venue.

Stars due to have attended included Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, and director Jon Favreau.

"Sadly, my trip to the UK has been cancelled due to an angry volcano," wrote Favreau in a Tweet.

Westfield said there was the possibility of a special screening of the much-anticipated comic-book adventure movie at the new cinema.

“Due to the continuing air travel uncertainty, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment have taken the decision to move the Iron Man 2 World Premiere and junket to Los Angeles.

“Advanced discussions are in progress about a special screening at the Vue Westfield, the original venue for the World Premiere on 26th April,” a statement said.

The new Hollywood blockbuster is the sequel to the 2008 film, Iron Man and is the second film in a planned trilogy.

Iron Man 2 will open in the UK & Ireland on April 30th, 2010.
