The man who was injured in an accident on the BBC Television site in Wood Lane during the morning of Monday February 22 has died in hospital.

London's Air Ambulance and London Fire Brigade were called to the scene just before 8.30am, where the construction worker had been trapped under a lorry.

They spent over an hour working to free the man, believed to be in his thirties, who was taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Mary's Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

A spokesman for Stanhope confirmed the man's death saying: " An incident occurred on Monday morning at the Television Centre site involving a vehicle and a member of the site team.

"The person was taken to hospital, but sadly passed away and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends."

The former BBC Television Centre is being turned into homes, offices and new TV studios by Stanhope in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan, Aimco and the BBC.
