Police have named the man who was killed after an incident in Sulgrave Road last week.

He is 29-year-old Piotr Maculewicz, a Polish national. A post-mortem did not establish the cause of death and police are awaiting the results of further tests.

An incident room has opened at Barnes under DCI Howard Groves of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

DCI Groves said: "We have established that prior to being found Mr. Maculewicz was in a lock up off the forecourt area of Sulgrave Gardens, and there may have been a fight.

"There would have been people coming and going at the time of the incident. The area is overlooked by a number flats and I am sure there are people who may have witnessed what happened and I am encouraging those people to contact the incident room."

At around 7.15pm on Friday 11 March, police were called to a man unconscious in the forecourt area of Sulgrave Gardens, Sulgrave Road. The ambulance service attended but he was pronounced dead at
the scene.

Two men, aged 31 and 27 have been arrested and held in custody over the weekend following the incident.

Officers will be attending the scene this evening (Friday 18 March) to speak to anyone in the area, handing out leaflets and appealing for information.

Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call the incident room at Barnes on 020 8247 7821 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
