Parkrun 235 - December 5

It was a very windy morning on Wormwood Scrubs with a feisty head wind on the back straight slowing us down and keeping us cool. The course was muddy in places but generally pretty decent for the time of year. Canine runner Harry Brydson got a little excited at the start when he lost his master Fraser, but he quickly got back on track and finished in excellent time. As we passed the half way point and back up the 'hill' for the second time, a gusty tailwind was a useful accelerator.

54 runners joined us including a few very welcome first timers and tourists. Thank you to our volunteers this week who included Simon and Barabar Maddison, both or whom are racing for TVH this afternoon in a home fixture. Good luck to Kirstie Tew and Will Paynter. Thank you also to run director Debbie Peters-Mill, Charlie and Ben Le Rougetel, Nick Michael and Fraser Brydson.

Congratulations James Spender who was first over the line in 20:13 followed by Martin Graham 20 seconds later and Ben Thornton in 20:44. First female finisher was Katie Ayling in 24:35. Second female home was Rebecca Johnstone in 25:12 and Fiona Carr in 26:44.

The top three age-graded runs this week were Ben Thornton, Phillip Jackson and James Spender. Well done guys, great runs.

Regular Scrubs runner Hugh Ferrand ran his 98th parkrun today and is looking forward to his 100th at Christmas. Fabulously, Hugh has run every single one at Wormwood Scrubs.

Andrea Calderwood remains top of the female points table with 1546. Marion Brydson is just 18 points behind her and Kirstie Tew is on 1499. All very, very close.

Over on the men's table is Manuel Corriente on 2041, James Spender on 1923 and Nick Michael on 1796.

Have a great week and see you next Saturday.
