Comment on this story on the

Parkrun 317 - 1 July

Wormwood Scrubs was over-clouded with the temperature around 16 degrees with a 10mph cooling wind as 61 runners gathered for the parkrun. Rob Ferguson was Run Director. We had 14 first timers. Rob reminded us that there is no Wormwood Scrubs Parkrun next week Saturday 8th July!

Rob said Sir Mo Farah might be, and in fact was, present in Thames Valley Harriers’ Linford Christie stadium as added entertainment for post-run tea and flapjack.

Mo was too busy being filmed by Nike to run with us. His parkrun record stands at 15:06 at Bushy parkrun no 60 on 19th November 2005.

It may have been the presence of Mo but there were a lot of Thames Valley Harriers present. There were a few dog walkers awkwardly placed but their dogs were well behaved. From the start First Timer Charles Houston set a blistering pace and I was thanking him as were the other 10 PBs that followed!

Top placings were as follows:

  1. Charles HOUSTON (SM20-24) of Thames Valley Harriers, was first over the line in 16:43.
  2. Sebastien MAILLARD (VM35-39) was second over the line in a Personal Best 18:43, a grand vitesse!
  3. James SPENDER (VM40-44) of Thames Valley Harriers, was third over the line in 19:06 – breaking his old PB of 19:33 which he ran to the second on 4 occasions: 2013,2015,2016 and in June 2017! Must have been the lucky Nike spikes and I feel epic!!

Female placings:

  1. Melina DUER (JW11-14) of Thames Valley Harriers, was first (6th overall) over the line in 21:04 - 7th time in 7 appearances!
  2. Seema SHRIVASTAVA (VW40-44) was second (29th overall) over the line in 25:46.
  3. Kate KENNEDY (VW50-54) was third (31st overall) over the line in a new PB 25:50.

The three highest age grades were recorded by:

  1. Charles HOUSTON (SM20-24) – 77.17% for the time 16:43 (first overall).
  2. John Joseph QUIRKE (VM60-64) – 75.02% for the time 21:57 (10th overall).
  3. Melina DUER (JW11-14) – 74.60% for the time 21:04 (6th overall).

Further Personal Bests were as follows: Eden FUNG 21:23, James HILL 21:42, Peregrine ANDREWS 23:41, James MCSWEENEY     24:55:00, Peter NOVOTNY       25:43:00, Kate KENNEDY  25:50:00, Andrea DOCOUTO-AZCARATE   28:35:00, Danielle HOULT          29:47:00. Well done to all of you!
