Adults who have never learnt to swim are being offered a free introductory course of lessons at the Phoenix Fitness Centre in Bloemfontein Road.

One in five adults across the country can't swim. Now, anyone living locally who wants to start learning can get six hours of free tuition with a qualified teacher who is specially trained in teaching adult non-swimmers.

The courses, which will take place over six weeks, are suitable for those who are scared of the water, those who cannot get thier faces wet or those who panic just thinking about the deep end.

The courses are open to anybody over the age of 17 and will be taught in small groups of no more than 12 pupils.

For any other queries or assistance with the application please call the 'Free Swimming Lessons' support team on 0845 600 6230, between the hours of:

Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 7:30pm
Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm
