A new neighbourhood forum which aims to bring the Shepherd's Bush community together is being launched on Saturday, September 24.

The White City Neighbourhood Forum is launching with a community convention taking place between 10.30am and 3pm at the White City Community Centre in India Way, W12.

There will also be a celebration and networking event, which includes music, food and children entertainment from 1pm till 3pm.

Everyone who lives and works in the Wormholt, Shepherd's Bush and White City areas and surrounding border is invited to come along and join in.

A committee of seven people will be set up to develop and steer initiatives to promote White City, Wormholt and Shepherd's Bush, and deal with community issues.

Harry Audley, Chairman of the White City Residents’ Association, said he hoped the new forum would bring together everyone with the area’s best interests at heart.

“We expect to share information and resources to obtain maximum benefit, not just for the opportunities that are currently available but also ones that will be available in future,” he said.

Councillor Andrew Johnson, Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) Council Cabinet Member for Housing, also welcomed the new forum as a valuable initiative in delivering the Borough of Opportunity.

Cllr Johnson says: “I am looking forward to working with the new forum and its members to deliver their ambitions to unlock real opportunities for current and future residents of White City.”

One of the forum’s tasks will be to decide how best to spend grant funding on improving the area, particularly Batman Close, the Cleverly estate, White City Close, the White City estate and the Wormholt estate.

Via the Urban Partnership Group, backed by H&F Council, grants have already been awarded to: Albert and Friends, Hafad, QPR in the Community Trust, the Afghan Council, Active Planet, Keeping Youth Active, and Link Radio.

A new website, Our White City , has been launched to spread the word.
