WAKA, London’s first 'grab-and-go' Nikkei restaurant - the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines - is opening its second restaurant in White City Place.

Dish at Nikkei restaurant WAKA

Previously only found in high-end restaurants, WAKA makes Nikkei food available to everyone. The menu offers a selection of sushi, bento and ceviche along with a variety of hot bowls, customer favourites include the Maracuya Salmon Tiradito and the Truffle Tuna Tataki.

WAKA is the third new addition within a month to announce it is moving to White City Place, the development o the site of the former BBC Media Village in Wood Lane.

Wellbourne and Shola Karachi Kitchen have already signed deals with developers Stanhope and landowners AIMCo and Mitsui Fudosan to open in the WestWorks building.

Wellbourne

Wellbourne was started by two friends who have been chefs in some of London’s most iconic restaurants, including as head and sous chef of recently closed Michelin-starred London restaurant Dabbous.

They have chosen White City Place as their third venue, having launched their first restaurant in Clifton village in Bristol in September 2017 and a second in the Pyrenees town of Salardu, which opens for the duration of the winter ski season.

As a newcomer to the London food scene, Wellbourne will offer a morning brunch menu focused around breakfast classics made freshly in-house. That 70s staple, vol-au-vents and an all day menu will be available from midday in both a restaurant and bar area.

Shola-Karachi Kitchen is the first permanent London site for founder Aida Khan, who grew up in Abu Dhabi and Karachi.

White City Place is already host to a great mix of dining experiences, catering for those looking for meat, veggie, vegan or gluten/dairy free-from options. Workers, local residents and visitors can already enjoy authentic New-York style pizza at Pizza Street, freshly-made Greek cuisine at The Athenian, American baked goods at Butterscotch and fast service Italian at Coco di Mama.

Feast Bar & Kitchen launched in December 2017, managed by the company behind Pergola on the Roof. The drinking and dining destination features a rotating line-up of London’s best vendors, currently hosting traditional Mexican joint, Del 74 and Hackney comfort food experts, Morty & Bob’s.
