A BMX track on Wormwood Scrubs has been officially opened during the Old Oak Community & Children’s Centre’s Funday, which took place oln Saturday June 21.

Sporting charity Access Sport says it has built a track on the Scrubs in the underused recreation and play area near Woodman Mews, and created a new BMX riders’ club, called Hammersmith BMX Club.

The new BMX track is open to all BMX riders for free but BMX club members will be given priority access to develop local talent.

Club sessions at Wormwood Scrubs BMX track will be on Saturdays from 1pm - 3pm, costing
£2 for members, £3 for non-members. Membership costs £2. Bikes, helmets and gloves are available (first come first served). All abilities and ages are welcome.

The club will run as a social enterprise, offering coaching, free bike use and equipment hire, bike maintenance events and outreach sessions. The project is being paid for through housing trust Affinity Sutton, Sport England and Olympic legacy funding.

If you are interested in finding out more about the BMX club, including how to join and volunteering opportunities, email Adam Thomas at Access Sport on adam.thomas@accesssport.co.uk.
