Local people are invited to visit Hammersmith Academy today, June 19 as the Shepherd's Bush secondary hosts its annual Race for Life event from midday till 4pm.

The school says this a fantastic local event in support of a very worthy cause, Cancer Research.

As well as cheering on all the students running the 5km Race for Life around the school, there is a a large fête with a variety of stalls, a stage with performances and music and prize-giving ceremony.

Celebrity guests including BBC TV presenter Emily Maitlis and other TV, Music and Sports personalities, and there may also be a visit from Mayor Boris Johnson.
