Do you know someone in our area who has made a significant impact to their chosen sport, or changed your ideas about being active and healthy?

If so, why not nominate them for a Hammersmith & Fulham Community Sports Award.

These annual awards celebrate the achievements of local athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and organisations, and aims to raise the profile of those who have made outstanding contributions to sport and physical activity in the local community.

Nominations are now open for each of the nine categories. The closing date to get your nomination in is Friday, June 28, with awards ceremony taking place on Tuesday, July 16 at the Hammersmith Academy.

Hammersmith & Fulham has a tradition of being a great sporting borough, hosting two Premier League football clubs, the Queen’s tennis tournament, the Boat Race and a polo festival.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council say they will be seeking a very special guest host who will be following previous presenters, Tasha Danvers, Olympic Bronze medallist in the 400m hurdles, BBC presenter John Inverdale and GB Triple jumper Larry Achike.

There will also  be two performances during the evening by local community sports and physical activity clubs.

H&F Council deputy leader Cllr Greg Smith, says: " Sporting activities can bring people from all over the borough together in a spirit of teamwork and healthy competition. However this could not happen without the dedication and hard work of local residents.

" If you know of an individual or organisation who you think has made a difference to sport in Hammersmith & Fulham, this is your chance to get them recognised."
