A series of free walking tours exploring some cultural highlights in Hammersmith & Fulham begin this weekend and continue throughout the summer.

On Saturday, June 28, Blue Badge guide Simon Rodway will embark on a free walking tour that includes a look at the Famous Three Kings pub in Fulham. From 1975 to 1980, the North End Road watering hole was known as the Nashville, hosting bands such as The Stranglers, The Police and The Jam before it ended up as the Sex Pistols' living room.

The tour, which sets off from Barons Court Station at 2pm, celebrates the Nashville as well as other aspects of West Ken's musical past.

In July there will be two free guided walks led by Simon Rodway - the first, on Sunday July 6, is called The Walham Green Wander and it will set off from Fulham Broadway Station on the pedestrian footway at 11am.

This tour will look at how the area has changed since June 1381 when Wat Tyler's men torched the Vestry, destroying the tithe records that bound serfs to their lord's land.

Then, on Saturday July 12, the Beating about The Bush tour departs from the Westfield exit at Shepherds Bush Central station at 2pm. This event celebrates the brilliance of the Bush, with a focus on its past as one of the capital's entertainment hubs.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council's cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, Cllr Andrew Jones, says: "This borough is an incredible place with an interesting history and variety of cultural gems – many of which are currently under-appreciated.

"These free events are a great way for both new and longstanding residents to learn more about and enjoy their area."
