Find out more at meetings across the borough this week
A series of roadshows on the benefits of High Speed Rail is being held in our borough's three town centres this week.
The roadshows offer visitors the chance to find out more about the proposed High Speed Rail line, that would run from London to Birmingham and include a major interchange station in Old Oak. They are at:
Hammersmith and Fulham Council are backing the push to bring high speed rail to the borough, and say there has been an overwhelmingly positive reaction from local people to the proposal from the Department for Transport (DfT).
“We’re doing all we can to ensure Old Oak gets the High Speed Rail station so that much needed investment can be brought into this neglected corner of the borough,” said Cllr Mark Loveday, H&F Council Cabinet Member for Strategy.
“The regeneration of Old Oak would truly transform the area. We’ve already heard from hundreds of residents and businesses who are full square behind the proposal.
" It’s important that people either contribute to the DfT consultation, or complete the form on our website so that their support for the scheme is recognised."
Estimates of the impact of the station put the likely number of jobs created in west London at around 20,000, with capacity for 10,000 new homes and significant opportunities for new businesses.
