Sulgrave Youth Club opened its doors to Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, earlier this month.

As a patron for UK Youth, the Princess dropped by the Goldhawk Road club to witness their exciting graphic design project, organised by the Microsoft Hub Programme.

The Sulgrave was one of 75 clubs nationwide allocated funding by charity UK Youth and Microsoft.

Impressed, Princess Anne watched videos with the team, oversaw a graphic and design session in action, and met the key members of Microsoft, Sulgrave Club and UK Youth.

The Microsoft Hub Programme is a scheme giving young people the opportunity to use new programmes, taking their IT skill set beyond the average school curriculum. The project gets the kids in charge of branding and promotion: creating logos, leaflets and allowing their entrepreneurial skills to flourish.

“We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness to the club and I know her visit meant a lot to the young people,” said the club’s senior youth worker Poonum Chamdal.

“The scheme has been invaluable and we hope we have created a meaningful project that has developed the skills of our young members.”

The scheme has enabled Sulgrave to invest in new equipment and hire specialist staff, and will shortly set up a social enterprise.
