Open House Meetings for Ukrainians in the Borough Continue
The sun shone for the June meeting allowing use of the garden

June 30, 2023

The regular series of drop in events for Ukrainian refugees in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is continuing with the next event due to take place on Friday 7 July.

Families and their supporters can come along between 3.30pm and 6.30pm to Hammersmith Meeting House, 30-32 Bradmore Park Road (W6 0DT) for expert advice, good company and some home baking. It the weather is good the event will take place in the garden which will enable children to play outside.

Around 70 people from Ukraine came to the previous meeting in June with a mixture of first timers and regulars. It was the eighth to be held so far and its popularity has prompted the decision to extend the programme through to the end of the year.

Representatives of the Co-Op were on hand to explain how to navigate their job application process and people from the East European Resource Centre (EERC) were on hand to help a teenager just finishing her A Levels with her application to attend the London School of Economics. Council officers were also on hand to provide advice on a range of issues.

The number of Ukrainians coming to the country continues to increase although more slowly than before so new people are joining the meetings every month.

Further events planned are as follows:

Friday 7 July
Friday 4 August
Friday 8 September
Friday 6 October
Friday 3 November
Friday 15 December

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
