50 Firefighters Tackle Huge Blaze on Wood Lane

Fire thought to have begun on Dairy Crest site north of Westfield

Ten fire engines and around  50  firefighters are currently tackling a fire in a dairy on Wood Lane, Shepherds Bush.

The fire is affecting a range of industrial units to the north of Westfield, and is thought to have started in the former Dairy Crest site.

The Brigade says it was called at 9.35 am and fire crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Willesden, Kensington, Paddington and Chiswick fire stations are attending the incident. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Developers Helical Bar and Aviva Investments are planning to redevelop the 10 acre former Dairy Crest site, which is part of the White City Opportunity Area, an area of land earmarked by Hammersmith and Fulham Council and the Mayor of London for major regeneration.

In May last year, they appointed Eric Parry Architects to create a masterplan for a proposed mixed use development which will include 1,500 new homes, and in November held to the first of a series of public consultations on their plans.

We will bring you more news on the fire as we receive it.
