A comedian who was rated ahead of some of the country’s top comics before a career break, is to perform her one woman show at The Bush Theatre.

Juliet Cowan, who is currently starring in 'Am I Being Unreasonable' and 'Stuck' on the BBC, is showcasing her first comedy hour, 26 years in the making.

Juliet is part of a comedy production company called Scillonia 435 that hopes to platform more middle-aged women's comedy voices.

Her career was abruptly put on hold due to the impracticalities of being on the road with two small children, but now ‘F*ck Off and Leave Me Alone’ takes us full circle to two distinct periods in her life, both strung out by hormones - her angsty teenage self, obsessed with gerbils, make-up and stealing meat off her mother’s plate - to present day mid-life. She explores how everything from confrontations in the park to the dying wishes of her grandmother have been impacted by the male patriarchal gaze.

Juliet has unfinished business after beating Jimmy Carr, Russell Howard and Andy Zaltzman in the 1999 final of So You Think You Are Funny.

She plans to debut her first full length play ‘Mum’ written as a love letter to her mother who was diagnosed with dementia. The play will be produced in February 2023 at The Playground Theatre.

Two performances lasting an hour are taking place on 11 and 12 November starting at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20.
