Acton will have Britain's first drive-thru bank
Acton could be the home of Britain's first drive-thru bank. HSBC is scouting for locations near petrol stations and business parks and a trial site has already been identified in Acton.
The exact whereabouts of the drive-thru have not yet been disclosed. HSBC are spending £500m on a major refurbishment programme at its 1,500 UK branches.
Drive-thru banks are already popular in the US where you can park up, withdraw cash or deposit cheques. This new departure for HSBC follows the success of telephone and internet banking in the UK. This nation of couch potatoes could soon have yet another reason not to stroll down to their local High Street.
HSBC are predicting that drive-thru banking will be a big success.
