Kensington Palace - what have they done!?

I visited this rather lovely small palace in Kensington gardens this week and had a horrible surprise. I have been before a few years ago and thought it was teerrific, with a great audio tour and grand rooms etc plus Queen Victoria'ss bedroom and so on. Now.... arrrgh.I felt fleeced, patronised, ignored, dumbfounded, gobsmacked. I cannot describe the nonsense going on in there and the bare faced audacity to charge the price of entry. I wish I had looked on Trip Advisor BEFORE I advised friends what a good trip it would be.One visitor from Yorkshire wrote: 'I thought the "Enchanted Palace" exhibition would be a side exhibition and some of the state rooms would be left intact. I'm afraid to say that they have desecrated the palace with this exhibtion. We got in on a "2 for 1" ticket but would have been ripped off with a "2 for 0" ticket. I have never been so disappointed in a visit. Somebody needs to get a grip on reality and stop this farce and abandon the project.'

"I cannot describe the nonsense going on in there"... which leaves the rest of us in the dark about what they've actually done.  And their website isn't much better. There's a £12M project under way, so it sounds as if much of the palace might be closed, and this exhibition is a way to keep something open meanwhile.  But I'm just trying to read between the lines of all the marketing hype on their site.Anyway, thanks for the warning.

I agree.  I didn't pay to go in, however, I felt cheated.  The Enchanted exhibition was a load of nonsense and what was the signifance of the dead tree between Princess Margaret and Diana's dresses, that they were dead wood?  I suppose it appeals to fashion students or arty people.
