Police Appeal for Witnesses to Shepherd's Bush Green Collision
Pedestrian "critical" after being hit by police van at Rockley Road junction
Police are appealing for witnesses to yesterday's accident on Shepherd's Bush Green in which a pedestrian was knocked down by a police car.
The pedestrian - a man aged 51 - is described as being in a "critical" condition.
Police say they were called to the Shepherd's Bush Green junction with Rockley Road, W12 at 11.16am on Thursday April 10 after receiving reports of a road traffic collision between a police car and a 51-year-old male pedestrian.
Upon arrival, the man was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A spokesman confirmed : “We were called at around 11.20am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision near Shepherd’s Bush Green.
“We sent an ambulance crew, an ambulance officer and the London Air Ambulance to the scene. Our staff treated a man, for head and leg injuries. He was taken to St Mary’s hospital, a major trauma centre, as a priority by the ambulance and was escorted by the doctor from the London Air Ambulance.
Police say the police vehicle was attending an incident prior to the collision, and no other persons were injured.
They add that no arrests have been made, but enquires are continuing. Local road closures are in place.

This the second serious road accident to happen in Shepherd's Bush within 24 hours, following a collision between a cyclist and a lorry at 4.45pm on April at the notorious junction of Askew Road and Uxbridge Road.
