Wood Lane Fire Update: 75 Firefighters Tackle Blaze


Fire is "challenging and developing incident"

The Unigate building on Wood Lane has been hit by a fire today (31st January).

The blaze started at around 9.30am and London Fire Brigade initally reported that over 50 firefighters and 10 fire engines are engaged in tackling the blaze.

Since then the team has been augmented and by 11am London Fire Brigade said 75 firefighters and 15 fire engines were on the scene, north of Westfield shopping centre.

Station Manager Rod Horton who is at the scene says: " The fire is affecting a range of industrial buildings on the dairy site. It’s a challenging and developing incident at the moment and we’re likely to be at the scene for some time."

Fire crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Willesden, Kensington, Paddington and Chiswick fire stations are attending the incident.

Wood Lane is currently closed both ways and Wood Lane tube station is shut.

Nobody has been yet reported as being injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
