Tory Leader In Local Visit

Put your questions to David Cameron at public meeting

David Cameron will be coming to the borough to hold a public meeting in the New Year.

In the first of a series of London events, dubbed 'Cameron Direct', the Conservative Party Leader will be taking questions from Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush residents on issues such as the economy, crime, health, transport and education. The agenda for the evening will be set by those attending.

The event, at 7pm on Tuesday 5th January 2010, is a chance for those living in the newly-created constituency of Hammersmith to find out what a Conservative Government might mean for them and their families.

In the upcoming election, Shepherd's Bush will be part of the new seat of Hammersmith, which has been drawn up by the Boundary Commission as a result of significant population growth in west London. The new constituency will include most residents living in the W12, W6 and W14 postcodes in an area running from Lillie Road in the south to Wormwood Scrubs in the north.

Shaun Bailey, Conservative Candidate for Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush, said: “We’re really pleased David Cameron is coming to Hammersmith. It’s a great opportunity for everyone – of any political persuasion – to come along and raise their issues, questions and concerns with him.

“Across the country, there are obviously real concerns over issues such as the cost of living, including the pressure on homeowners and the pressure on small shops and businesses, and all these issues can be raised. But it is the members of the public who set the agenda for the evening – whatever the question, issue or concern, it will be answered,” he added.

Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush residents wishing to attend are asked to please email office@hammersmithconservatives.com or call 0207 385 1002.

The venue for this Cameron Direct event will be confirmed on 2 January and registered attendees will be notified.

Please note that this meeting is not open to members of the Conservative Party.
