The launch of Westfield London's new extension is set for Tuesday, 20 March, with a huge John Lewis store among the first shops to open.

The new John Lewis, which has cost £33 million to create, is the 'anchor store' for the extension, and is providing 600 new jobs for residents in White City and the surrounding area.

When the £600 million Westfield 2 development opens, it will make the Shepherd's Bush shopping centre the largest in Europe, with around 450 stores.

Spread over four floors, the John Lewis store will host more than 20 services alongside 1,000 - plus brands in fashion, beauty, home and technology.

These services include a wine bar and two restaurants on the first and third floors, plus a separate dining room for staff.

John Lewis says in the coming weeks, 5,000 fixtures and fittings and 18,000 cases of stock will be delivered to the store ahead of the grand opening.

It will be the largest shop at the new Westfield expansion stretching over 230,000sqft – almost one third of the extension.

"Westfield tell us that we’re the most asked for retailer not already here and I cannot wait to open the doors of this shop and start showing the customers everything we have to offer," says Ruth Scharvona, pictured above, Head of Branch at John Lewis White City.

"We’re recruiting an outstanding team of partners who will advise customers on over 1,000 brands."

You can see the jobs still available at the store here. They include section manager, part time technical support partner and maintenance technician - but you will have to be quick, as closing dates for applications is between 9 February and 13 February.

Successful applicants will become partners and co-owners of the business under the retailer’s unique partnership structure.

The store will be joined in the new extension by a long lists of beauty and fashion stores, including Primark, Space NK, Urban Decay, Bravissimo, men’s fashion brands Frencheye and Emperor and Chinese fashion brand Urbano Revivo - launching its first store outside Asia.

The extension will also have a Currys PC World, Japanese Food Hall Ichiba, boutique bowing venue All Star Lanes and a new indoor minigolf gaming centre plus bar and restaurant called Puttshack. Puttshack will launch within the new development and both applications for jobs and bookings are now open at its website.

You can find out about other jobs on offer at Westfield on its website and WorkZone Online. You can also visit WorkZone, based within Shepherd's Bush Library at Westfield for more about jobs and training opportunities.

Westfield says that its extension has also allowed some stores currently based in the existing centre to move to bigger spaces in the new extension, including H&M, adidas, Boots, Lush, The White Company, Monsoon, Guess, UGG and Cath Kidston.
