A chance for grown-ups to watch new Bond film in peace
Cinema-goers will be able to watch the new James Bond film in a more peaceful environment, in a series of special screenings for over-18s only.
From 7th November, the Shepherd’s Bush Vue cinema in the West 12 Centre will be showing selected PG, 12A and 15 rated films, starting with Quantum of Solace (12A), in screenings reserved just for grown-ups.
Around three screenings per day will be for adults only and tickets will cost 75 pence more than regular tickets.
Vue Entertainment says it is introducing the over-
18s screenings after a “significant number” of cinema-goers said they wanted to see PG, 12A and 15 rated films without "unwanted disruptions" such as mobile phones ringing, people talking or restlessness - traits some adults have associated with younger audience members.
Mark de Quervain, Sales and Marketing Director of Vue Entertainment said: “These screenings have been launched in direct response to overwhelming positive customer feedback obtained from extensive research studies and trials carried out over the past year.”
“To assist with creating the relaxing adult environment that our customers have asked for, we will have a member of staff present throughout the film in these special screenings,” he said.
Other major films scheduled for over-18s screenings in December include ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’, ‘Australia’ and ‘Yes Man’.
The Shepherd’s Bush Vue is asking cinema-goers to vote for films they want to see in over-18s screenings in future. The choices include Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Marley and Me – a film about a neurotic dog– , The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – a tale about a man who starts ageing backwards - , and The Young Victoria – a dramatisation of the first years of Queen Victoria’s rule.
The PG, 12A and 15 rated films will still be available for younger audiences at other screenings throughout the day.
