Local Orchestra is Keen to Recruit New Members

West London Strings welcome musicians from Grade 4 standard upwards

Local orchestra West London Strings has begun rehearsing for its Christmas concert at Barnes Methodist Church on December 4 and is keen to welcome new members.

The orchestra, which rehearses in St Mary's Church Hall on the corner of Edith Road and Hammersmith Road, says it is particularly keen to hear from more violin, viola and double bass players.

West London String says: " Formed in 2009, we are a friendly group of adult beginners and those who have returned to their instruments after a break. We enjoy playing string-orchestra music on Monday evenings with repertoire that ranges from pre-baroque to 21st century.

" There are no auditions and anyone from Grade 4 standard upwards is welcome, aged from 18 to 80+. The music is chosen to suit the membership and we  enjoy working on a range of music in a non-pressurised, supportive and  very friendly environment. If you're interested, you're very welcome to come along and try us out."

If you decide to join, it costs £85 per term which averages ten rehearsals.

If you are interested in joining, please call Sheila on 020 8946 6185 or metcalfe012@btinternet.com.
