Key Stage 2 Exam Results - Shepherd's Bush Primary Schools

Level 4 and Level 5 Scores

Recent Key Stage 2 results published by the Department of Education indicate another good year for Shepherds Bush primary schools. For the second successive year, schools within the Hammersmith and Fulham borough performed better than the national average, with results in the area having improved steadily since 2010. There were also some impressive individual performances by schools in Shepherds Bush.

Well done to Old Oak Primary, who were the most improved school in the 2013 KS2 exams. The percentage of children achieving level 4 or above at Old Oak in English and Maths (the 'benchmark' figure for Key Stage Two attainment) shot up 20 points to 74%. Wormholt Park and ARK Bentworth primaries also made good improvements in this category.

Making an improvement of two levels from Key Stage One to Two is considered to be 'expected progress' between ages 7 and 11. In this crucial area, Shepherd's Bush schools produced outstanding results across the board. Miles Coverdale, Good Shepherd and Pope John primaries managed an entirely clean slate, with all their students progressing as expected in Reading, Writing and Maths. Two schools, St. Stephen's and Old Oak primaries had an 100% record in Reading and Maths, while Wormholt Park had the same for Writing; the schools involved can be rightly proud of their magnificent achievements for the year.

In terms of level 5 attainment at Key Stage 2, primaries in W12 did well again. Miles Coverdale, St. Stephen's, Good Shepherd RC and Pope John RC primary schools helped over half of their students achieve level 5 in every subject. 50% of students at Greenside reached level 5 at KS2 Writing and the same proportion for Reading - in both cases significantly above the national figures for state schools. Bentworth and Wendell Park primaries achieved strong results in the Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling test, while Old Oak Primary and Bentworth again distinguished themselves in the Reading exam.

All these results are a testament to the hard work put in by teachers, children and parents all year round - congratulations to Shepherds Bush primary schools on a fantastic 2013!
