If Poetry Be the Food of Love

An intermediate poetry course in July

The most powerful poetry can come from writing 'what you know.' But how does a poet choose which parts of their life to draw on? How do we transform that raw material into art? And what are the dangers of autobiographical poetry?

This five-week course will explore writing from life, using poetic forms to give shape to your memories and experiences.

Writing From Life is aimed at people who are already reading and writing poetry.

The course tutor is Clare Pollard who has published three collections of poetry, the latest of which is, Look, Clare! Look!

She is also a playwright and her play, The Weather, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre.

Clare works as a broadcaster, journalist and editor, and has taught poetry for Arvon and the City Lit.
