A 51-year-old woman from Shepherd’s Bush, described as ‘the best mum’, has died after falling four floors from her apartment.

Sharon Anne Daly-O'Dwyer had just been opening presents with her family on what was described as a normal Christmas Day morning when she said she was going out for a cigarette on the balcony.

She was in her dressing gown and told her family that she was planning to go back to bed for a while before she got up again to make the Christmas dinner.

Her two children, Taylor and Drew, heard a loud bang shortly afterwards and when they went outside to look they saw their mother on the ground below. Despite an attempt to perform CPR they knew she was already dead.

Her daughter Taylor, who described Sharon as the best mum, told the Daily Mirror, "I ran down to try and help her but it was pretty obvious she had died, she wasn't breathing and her eyes were open.

"I held her hand when they stopped the CPR and closed her eyes when they said they couldn't do anymore. I gave her a kiss and said I love you."

Her son, 19-year-old Drew, who has a scholarship to study psychology at Loughborough University went back to the apartment to comfort his one-year-old nephew Harley while Taylor remained by her mother’s side until the body was taken away.

The circumstances which led to the accident remain a mystery as the family report that it was a normal Christmas morning and Sharon had been delighted with her presents including a bag she received from Taylor.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for the funeral as Sharon had worked as a barmaid but her income had suffered due to pubs being closed during the pandemic.
