Police appeal for witnesses
Police are appealing for information and witnesses after an elderly woman was attacked on a Shepherd's Bush street.
The woman was walking alone along Clematis Street at around 4.30pm on Thursday 29th October. She had just passed the junction with Sundew Avenue when she was approached from behind by a man on a pushbike who tried to snatch her handbag.
The woman tried to hold on to the bag but fell over as the thief pulled it away from her. He then turned around on his bike and pedalled away down Sundew Avenue.
The suspect is described as a black male, around 18 years old, and wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms.
He made off with the victim's handbag, which was light orange/brown with a square pattern on it and cream coloured squares. The bag contained £10 in cash, a Nokia mobile phone, an orange purse and a gold Swiss watch.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with a fractured pelvis and she is said to be recovering.
Detective Constable Max Watson from Hammersmith and Fulham's Robbery squad said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact police. This was an unprovoked attack on a lone and elderly female. Robberies are few and far between in the borough and we have seen a year on year reduction in the last 5 years."
