A man being sought in connection with an alleged rape in Shepherd’s Bush has now been located by police and charged.

Detectives investigating the case issued a photo of Salad Ahmed Mohamed and asked for the public’s assistance in locating him.

He was charged with one count of rape on Wednesday, 13 April and was then remanded in custody to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 14 April. There he was further remanded until a date can be set for his trial at a Crown Court.

A woman reported that she got into a white Toyota Prius in the area of Upper Street, Islington at around 2.15am on Thursday 7 April. She says that the male driver, who she did not know, drove her to the vicinity of Wormwood Scrubs and then raped her in the car. She is being supported by specialist officers.
