Artist's impressions of the new building go on show
The first pictures of the new Shepherd's Bush library will go on display from Monday 8 December until the end of the year.
Artist’s impressions of the modern, high-tech building will be on show in the current Uxbridge Road library.
The new library, which is due to open in July 2009, will be next to the Westfield shopping centre on Wood Lane.
As well as stocking items such as books, newspapers, magazines, CDs and DVDs, there will continue to be a study space and internet access.
Residents will have meeting spaces, and there are also proposed areas for children and teenagers to play on a Wii computer or listen to music downloaded from the internet.
New aspects to the library include self-service terminals, which will make it quicker and easier to take out books or CDs.
Opening hours will be extended, the building will be kitted out in state-of-the-art furnishings and fittings, and there will be a separate employment bureau with interview facilities run by the Council’s regeneration team.
