Event to raise money for young stroke victims
A charity gig takes place on Saturday 19 September at Bush Hall to raise money for Different Strokes, a charity that supports young stroke victims and their families.
Two bands - the Allie Catz and Creak - will play cover versions of songs by Blondie, Britney, the Stones and Sam Cooke.
An 18-year-old jazz pianist will play while the bands are switching over.
Families with children over the age of 10 are encouraged to attend.
Nearly one-third of all strokes occur in people under the age of 65. Stroke is especially devastating for younger people: one
day fit and well, the next moment disabled, often with a young family to care for and support, and relying on employment for
income rather than a pension.
Founded and still largely managed and staffed by younger stroke survivors, Different Strokes understands that younger stroke survivors consider it imperative that they make the best possible recovery both physically and psychologically. To enable them to achieve this, it provides free access to relevant information, advice, support and specialised exercise classes.
