Sabrina Francis
There is an eclectic mix of events at Bush Hall this autumn with music, comedy and chat on offer.
As well as a chance to hear from former QPR striker Simon Stainrod, there is music from Grenada with Sabrina Frances, a Norwegian bluegrass ensemble and a gig by a former member of Sonic Youth.
Comedy also returns to the venue with a line up featuring Mike Wozniak.
After the success of the UK and European tour last year, Sabrina Francis launches her new single ‘Call Me’ Live in Bush Hall, London on 27 October.
Flying from Grenada, Sabrina and her Tree House Band aim to bring a fun authentic Caribbean atmosphere with soothing music. Sabrina will hit the stage with new music and a full band, featuring a special opening act.
As one of the founding members of Sonic Youth and on his own, Lee Ranaldo bridges the gaps between experimental music and the larger world of alternative rock on Tuesday 1 November. Along with former bandmate Thurston Moore, Ranaldo developed an innovative approach to the electric guitar with unique tunings and a percussive playing style and lent an atmospheric, vaguely psychedelic undertow to their music on tracks like "Eric's Trip." During his years with Sonic Youth, Ranaldo's solo releases were a platform for his more introspective music, such as 1998's Amarillo Ramp (For Robert Smithson). He also embarked on collaborations with fellow experimental music luminaries on albums like 1998's Clouds, one of several works with percussionist William Hooker. When the band's time came to an end, Ranaldo incorporated some of the more structured songwriting into albums like 2012's Between the Times and the Tides and 2017's Electric Trim, balancing these releases with more free-form efforts such as 2021's In Virus Times.
Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra is a young bluegrass ensemble from the hills of Norway who are performing at Bush Hall on Thursday 3 November. The crew consists of fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro and upright bass, and additionally they have the somewhat unconventional bluegrass instrument accordion with them. Their music reaches back to Anglo-Saxon folk and American Appalachian old time music, and obtains material and inspiration from hymns and blues as well as Norwegian folklore.
Gifted , Maverick , Showman, Talisman... All words that have accurately been used to describe Simon Stainrod throughout his career. Arriving at Loftus Road in November 1980 he would go on to play 177 times for QPR, scoring 62 goals over a 5 year period and An Evening with Simon Stainrod is taking place at 6.30pm on Monday 6 November.
Comedy returns to Bush Hall on Thursday 24 November featuring headliner Mike Wozniak, plus Suzi Ruffell, Phil Ellis and Sikisa.
Bush Hall is at 310 Uxbridge Road (W12 7LJ).
