West 12 Centre's Furnish Shop Closes its Doors

Managers hope to find new place to sell 'pre-loved' furniture  as soon as possible

The Furnish shop in the West 12 Centre, which has offered local people the opportunity to buy 'pre-loved' furniture at affordable prices for four years has closed its doors.

Managers say they are hoping to find an alternative venue fo the shop in the area in W12, but in the meantime customers will have to travel to a new store way out west in Ruislip.

Furnish shop manager Maeve O’Loughlin said: " We wish to thank all our customers for their generous donations and support at our community hub over the years.

"We will be very sad to leave and have enjoyed meeting so many people that we have been able to help through different schemes.

"We are looking for alternative shops in the Shepherd's Bush area as this is our core community. We’d like to invite all our customers to come and see us in our new shop near Ruislip Manor tube station which will open in the Autumn.

"Meantime you can still shop for some great Furnish bargains on Ebay and Gumtree.”

The Furnish shop is stocked via a warehouse in Greenford with items donated by the community. Each year it saves 720 tonnes of furniture from landfill.

Pam Sedgwick, Director of Staying First, the charity which runs Furnish, said “We have had a very successful time at W12 and enjoyed being part of a lively community. Though we are sorry to go we would like to thank Land Securities for the chance to use the premises and aim to be back operating in the local community as soon as we can."

Furnish provides a vital service to the local community by providing low cost affordable furniture and raises funds by selling premium items. It offers discounts to people in receipt of benefits such as pension credits. For enquiries contact Furnish.Enquiry@sbhg.co.uk
