Veggie Mecca To Stay In Goldhawk Road

Restaurant for sale but not closing down

The owner of a popular local restaurant says there are no plans to close the business, despite the fact that it is currently up for sale.

Blah Blah Blah on Goldhawk has been a mecca for vegetarians for nearly twenty years but now the current owner, who has owned the restaurant for nearly five years, says he is selling up.

“The only reason I want to sell is that I'm getting old," said owner Manjit.

However, he said the business would remain the same: “We are not closing down. It will stay the same but there will be a new owner. We won't sell if we don't find the right person,” he told ShepherdsBushW12.com.

The sales description of the restaurant says: “This attractive business, has been serving quality, innovative vegetarian cuisine for the past 20 years, under the current vendor's stewardship for the past 4. It serves an eclectic mix of Asian, Mediterranean, North African, European and other cuisines. It has many loyal regulars as well as illustrious patrons such as Sir Paul McCartney and other celebrities from the world of television and theatre land.”

Despite having a solid client base, Manjit said the restaurant had had to adapt to try and attract new diners, particularly in the current economic climate.

“It's very tough at the moment, none of the restaurants are very busy. We've got our regulars but new people want fast foods. So we're changing our menu a bit for them – we're adding some fast foods but it will still be fresh and made here and will still be completely vegetarian,” he said.
