Extra Saturday trains to run throughout festive season
Train drivers who work for the company that serves Shepherd's Bush Overground station have called off a strike scheduled for 28th December.
Southern staff had planned a 24-hour walkout in a dispute over holiday pay.
But a statement from Southern says: "The threat of strike action for Monday 28th December has been lifted now that train drivers’ union, ASLEF has called off its strike and the RMT Union has informed us that it will not be taking its plans any further.
"We welcome these decisions as our passengers will not now be inconvenienced through industrial action."
ASLEF announced the strike last week in a disputer over whether 28th December, rather than 26th, should be recognised as a Bank Holiday and therefore attract holiday pay.
Meanwhile Transport for London have announced they will be operating extra Saturday services on the Clapham Junction to Willesden Junction line, via Shepherd's Bush, during the festive season.
There will be an extra London Overground train every hour (i.e. three instead of two) on Saturday 28 November, 5 December, 12 December and 19 December between 11:00 and 19:00.
These services will be in addition to the one train per hour operated by train operator, Southern.
On those dates, a normal service will also operate on the Stratford to Willesden Junction section of the London Overground.
Previously, engineering works have caused weekend suspensions on this route.
